The Panel works across Eurasia. That work is one part of the Civil Society Collaborative for Religious Freedom, Peace and Prosperity, led by the IRF Secretariat(opens in a new tab) and the Good Faith Partnership(opens in a new tab), which pursues the same goal worldwide.
What “collaborative” means
Everyone keeps their own work, and plans it together.
A collaborative is not an organization you join. Its members keep their own work and their own leadership. What they add is one shared strategy, planned together at one table.
At that table are faith communities, civil society, scholars and governments, alongside the partners who fund the work.
That mix is the whole point. For decades these groups worked apart — each planning alone, rarely coordinating with one another, rarely reaching out to governments or to the wider civil society. Over those same decades, religious freedom declined worldwide.
What “global” means
Every region builds its own coalition.
The same work is under way in other parts of the world. Each region forms its own coalition, led by people from that region, who adapt the shared strategy to the conditions they actually face.
The Eurasia Panel is the coalition for the post-Soviet space. Coalitions are also being formed in Latin America, West Africa and Southeast Asia — and what each region learns is carried back to the others.
